ADVENTURE PATROL

The Adventure Patrol program is offered in each of the section camps. It is a morning program with an early afternoon swimming instruction. It is designed to teach basic Scouting skills to newly enrolled Scouts and first-year campers. Led by specially selected staff members, the Patrol meets daily, Monday through Thrusday, and it includes activities such as hikes, cookouts, and aquatic opportunities. Bring newly registered boys to camp and take them back as trained Scouts!

The program begins with a Monday morning orientation, and Scouts quickly move into action. During the week, the members of the Adventure Patrol work on outdoor requirements for the first two ranks, as well as the requirements for Totin' Chip and Fire'm Chit. They also visit all the of the section camp program areas and experience the Owasippe Trail System. Scouts will have the opportunities to earn a Swimming merit badge, Mammal Study merit badge and one of the following Handicraft offered merit badges (Leatherwork, Indian Lore, Wood Carving or Basketry merit badge). Scouts completing the program will qualify to wear an attractive Adventure Patrol patch

Make sure you sign-up your eligible Scouts for the Adventure Patrol at the Sunday night Leader Roundtable meeting. Please be sure to bring a list of all participants. New unit leaders may want to follow boys through the program. It is recommended that all units that have Scouts in the Adventure Patrol program provide at least one leader to help supervise the patrol.

WHERE EAGLES DARE

The Where Eagles Dare program is offered in each section camp. It is designed to provide second year campers with opportunities to explore Owasippe and use Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class skills on a variety of specified tasks and adventures.

These optional, fun oriented experiences will encourage Scouts to learn more about the history of Owasippe and Scouting, use Scout skills in real-life situations, practice teamwork, and expand their problem-solving skills. As a program highlight at the end of the week, Where Eagles Dare participants are invited to attend a special Outpost program, where they will also enjoy a sumptuous barbecue. Scouts completing the program will qualify to wear an attractive Where Eagles Dare patch.

Sign-up for the Where Eagles Dare program is the same as for Adventure Patrol.
